December 16th: Harford County Activating Harford County Freezing & Inclement Weather Plan at 10am

Harford County Activating  Harford County Freezing & Inclement Weather Plan at 10am

Following Governor Hogan’s Press Conference yesterday, I am reporting that  effective today at 10 am the Harford County Freezing & Inclement Weather Plan will be activated through Friday 12/18/2020 at 12 pm. Harford Community Action Agency staff will be available for screenings at 1321-B Woodbridge Station Way, Edgewood, MD, 21040 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm to provide motel assistance for those in need.

The office vestibule will be open for households in need. This service is ONLY for households who are experiencing an episode of homelessness the night before by living in a place not meant for habitation i.e. tent encampment or their personal or abandoned vehicle or dwelling place.

If someone is unable to get transportation to the office, they can give the office a call to reach our SSP staff. Heather Clapper, Direct Services Coordinator at 410-612-9909 Ext. 2240 as well as Damon Presberry Sr., Direct Services Specialist at 410-612-9909 Ext. 2232.

The Freezing Weather Plan may be extended through the weekend depending on how much snow we get. If it seems like by Friday morning things are getting cleared and our temperatures are rising Harford County may lift it, but we will keep you all posted.  Please see attached FY2021 Freezing Weather Plan.

Please direct all of your questions regarding the Freezing Weather Plan to Brian Wainwright, HCAA SSP Director bwainwright@harfordcaa.org.

With the impending storm, HCAA’s Food Pantry Hours may be affected.  We will make a call on the 4 pm opening by 1 pm.

Anyone who has signed up to receive text alerts has received a text with this information this morning. The information is prominently posted on the agency doors, website and social media platforms.

Thank you, have a great weekend and STAY SAFE!

All the best,

Pamela J. Craig, Executive Director
