Food Insecurity, Intensified by the Pandemic, Continues in Harford County
Harford Community Action Agency continues to battle Food Insecurity in our community.
These events, planned for 2022, will go a long way in increasing the availability of food in Harford food pantries, and providing food directly to families in need.

Summer Snack Club
Our Summer Snack Club is returning! Last year, our Club was able to feed nearly 1,000 individuals. Our program is designed to help feed children and families in need throughout the summer with a fun program designed to encourage kids to eat healthy and have fun! Starting on June 29th, our Club will be open from 10AM- 12PM for eight weeks. Families can stop by HCAA for a bag of food, giveaways, treats, music and activities.
The bags include mac & cheese, soup, tuna/chicken salad kits, breakfast bars, drinks, dried fruit, nuts, pretzels, apple sauce, fruit cups, cereal, shelf stable milk, among other things. We also get fresh produce each week. This creates a fun way for children and families to get additional food throughout the summer, without it feeling like there is a stigma attached.

Hunger Action Month
Harford County eateries are joining Harford Community Action Agency in our fight against food insecurity!
Participating establishments are donating $300 — $10/day for the month of September — and are encouraging their patrons to make a one time donation of $10 themselves! Table tents will be present on all tables that indicate the restaurant’s participation, and provide a QR Code that can be scanned to where patrons can make donations to HCAA’S Hunger Action Month Virtual Food Drive!
