As Harford County’s designated Community Action Agency, the HCAA’s mission is to help all Harford County individuals and families who are experiencing financial hardships in meeting their housing, food, energy/heating, and/or budget and family counseling needs. We support and encourage them on their path to self-sufficiency.
In 2019:
- Served 2,119 households (4,889 people) with our Food Pantry. Our organization was able to distribute 435,064 pounds of food! 110,943 pounds of food was transferred to our partners throughout Harford County!
- Assisted 326 households with our Homeless Prevention Program. We helped 251 households with Eviction Assistance, 50 households with Security Deposits and 25 households with Rapid Rehousing.
- 46 clients participating in our Parenting Inside Out Jail & Community Programs. This eight week evidence-based parenting skills training program was developed for criminal justice involved parents and caregivers.
Assisted 5,529 households with financial assistance with home heating bills the Maryland Energy Assistance Program. Payments are made to the fuel supplier and utility company on the customer’s behalf. - Assisted 5,283 households with financial assistance with electric bills through the Electric Universal Service Program. This program helps families get placed on annual budget billing plans to help avoid spikes in their bill caused by seasonal fluctuations in energy use.
