Maryland volunteers distribute food as pandemic creates rising hunger

In Maryland public housing, a small debt can get poor tenants evicted
People lined up to receive food packages outside a school in Maryland as increasing numbers of children are going hungry in the United States, the country which has recorded the world’s worst coronavirus outbreak.

The number of people who come to the distribution centre has doubled since the start of the pandemic, according to the Baltimore Hunger Project, which now serves around 500 people weekly.
