With the goal of ending poverty throughout Harford County, HCAA provides a series of income support, nutrition and financial education programs in addition to food distribution efforts. Without the help of our partners and supporters like you, the work of HCAA would not be possible. Read on to learn how you can make a difference in the lives of Harford County residents in need.
Become a Volunteer
Did you know we need volunteers every day? Even some evenings and weekends! Volunteers are vital to the work Food Pantry does throughout the county. You can make a difference many ways!
Organizing a Volunteer Opportunity
Volunteering builds team spirit and fosters a community of giving. If you have a group interested in volunteering in our Food Pantry or hosting a Food Drive, please email email@example.com. Organizations can partner with us to determine their ideal volunteer experience and we will design and deliver a custom opportunity to a corporate headquarters, a place of worship, or a location of your choice. The program is suitable for individuals, large or small groups, youth groups, families, or corporate team-building retreats.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
You can help Harford County residents receive tax refunds by participating in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program. Each year, volunteers help put millions of dollars in refunds back into the pockets of people who need it. The average return is about $1,000 – money that makes a big impact for a struggling family. With basic computer skills, basic math skills, and a few hours free each week, you can make a real difference.
I’m interested. What do I need to do?
Volunteers commit to a weekly shift (approximately 3 hours) from January through April at one of our partner sites. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
